Goddamn bulletproof 2003 EX sedan.
Mrs McMike (not spouse at the time) needed a quick replacement for the rear-ended Corolla. We walked out of Toyota (her first choice) since the salesmen were assholes, and went straight to the Honda dealer.
We looked at it, and she said, "Meh"
The rental car provided by the insurance company was running out, so she said "Yeah."
While she was excited to own her first new car, she wasn't too excited about the car itself.
I just asked her yesterday (141K miles later) what she liked about the car. She said, "It's perfect." She couldn't give any details, but she loves it.
I then asked her to list things she didn't like about it. Thinks she wished he could change if she could.. "Bluetooth maybe.. Maybe a little more power...."
I think the damn thing is perfect. Not too complicated and dead reliable. I can't believe how many original parts are on the thing.
Looked for photos real quick, this is all I could come up with.

These cars are very good dd,
I had $3000 to buy my first car and a mix of impatience, bordom ,and logic led me to buy a civic. Simply it was cheap to fix and reliable. Soon I shall see how my gravel/dirt road destroys the car day after day to and from school.

2001 4 door. I've taken it some crazy places. E.g.: a few years back I did a 7,500 km road trip in it.

Nope.
The only problems I've had with it was the upper strut mounts (which, on the '01 were plastic, and later years switched to metal). It now has 220,000 km on it, and other than regular maintenance items (other than the front struts), it's been fine.
EDIT: I should clarify that. The strut mounts themselves weren't the problem - it's another part in the strut tower called the top hat. For whatever reason Honda figured it'd be a good idea to make them out of plastic. It wasn't, so the next year they switched to metal.
I suppose my power door lock switch also died, but really, it's been an advantage. It means I'm forced to always get the door for my wife, which is a good thing (Yay for chivalry!). There was also a recall on the passenger airbag inflator, which could potentially do bad things, and the driver's side seatbelt sensor has packed up on me twice. The stealership wanted $300+ for a new buckle assembly. Thankfully, just cracking the sucker open and cleaning the contacts on the switch fixed the problem.

There is a long sweeping turn NE of me, I was driving it for the 1 billionth time and I love that turn, no traffic, no people... no nothing... I failed to think about the weird weather though, we had gotten snow, rain, and temperature fluctuations and the city had already thrown salt / sand. So I lost grip, over corrected and threw it into a curb...
That image is actually from when I went to get my things out of it, totaled out at the lot. If you look carefully (expand) the image you can see the damage where the tires whacked the curb and screwed up the alignment. Mud guards are gone, and that big dent near the rear wheel set off the current airbags and seat belt pretensioner.

Interesting. Maybe it's just me, but the damage really doesn't look too bad. It's sad to see a car like that go with still so much of it working properly.
It reminds me of last spring my wife's Cavalier (yeah, I know...). It got dented in the parking lot at her work. The damage was purely cosmetic, but the insurance company wanted to write it off. Imagine that - $2k worth of cosmetic damage to a Cavalier! We didn't feel like hunting for a new car, so we fought to keep it, and got it fixed.

It was sad. About 14K assessed in damages, with modern safety equipment you don't fix what broke, you replace everything tied to it too. So air bags means new air bag control unit, seat belt tensioner means new seats, seat racks, seat belts, seat belt tensioner control unit... you get the idea.
